Devils River
The back drop for amazing outdoor adventure and photography.
The Devils River is the most unique and pristine river in Texas and the American Southwest; it is also the clearest and cleanest river in Texas, the benchmark to grade the water quality of all other rivers in the state.
It is a short river in comparison to other rivers, with only appx. 35 miles navigable by canoe or kayak.
Film projects on the Devils are infrequent due to it’s remoteness, degree of difficulty for paddlers, prohibition on motorized boats, and restrictive permit system.
This river has a unique ecosystem, the scenery and streamflow for film projects is OUTSTANDING, there is no equal. We also have some limited access to cabins and housing along the river, but the drive to get to these is very time consuming, all work done on the Devils will take time, cannot be rushed, and will need to follow strict Leave No Trace policies with the utmost respect to the environment, wildlife, and property owners.
West Texas Film has provided permitting, support and coordination for multiple film projects on the Devils, you can view some of their projects.
