an Angell Expeditions Company
If you are considering a film, photo, or video project in West Texas and would like to enlist the help of an experienced outfitter and support crew, as well as other logistics, give us a call.
West Texas Film Logistics is owned by Charlie Angell, of the well known Angell Expeditions in Big Bend, with 20+ years in the region guiding visitors to unique and magical places.
We regularly take groups into Big Bend National Park, Big Bend Ranch State Park, Devils River State Natural Area, and many remote locales.
We are familiar with all the destination towns like Marfa, Terlingua, Lajitas, Ft Davis, and Presidio; Mexico travel is also part of our services, with iconic Ojinaga a favorite, and very safe.
There are many other smaller back country options that are limited access we can arrange for you.
The regions we are familiar with can also be described as the Trans-Pecos, and the South West part of the Edwards Plateau that includes the Seminole Canyon State Park, Devils River, Amistad Resevoir, and Del Rio. The Texas Film Comission identifies Big Bend as part of the “Trans Pecos” and the Devils River area as part of the “West”.
Charlie and crew have worked on many commercial film and advertising projects, providing support, scouting, and talent.
The National Geographic Travel video called “Embracing the Unknown in Big Bend National Park” with National Geographic Photographer Filipe DeAndrade scouts for wildlife in Texas’ biggest national park. See the video and article. Angell Expeditions provided scouting, transport, catering, and support for this project.
Some of the clients we have worked with are Texas Monthly, Outside Magazine, PBS, CNN, Hulu, CW network, NPR, Carhartt, Texas Highways, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Discover Channel, NHK World Japan, Voyageurs du Monde, Lufthansa, AAA’s Texas Journey magazine, and Southern Living magazine. Photo shoots for products including clothing and outdoor sports are amazing in Big Bend.
Recent clients (over the last few years) include National Geographic, Texas Monthly, GMC, PBS Wild Rivers with Tillie, and Rivian Trucks, and Texas Parks and Wildlife in June 2025.
We were recently featured on the Weather Channel for the drought conditions affecting the Rio Grande, and TurtleBox Audio produced a fun Devils River adventure piece featuring their product in a light touch way.
We know the best locations in the Big Bend for outdoor and action shots and have a crew of energetic guides to showcase your products!

Logistics Services
Food
We are experts at feeding our clients in remote locations, by van, canoe, raft, bicycle, and 4WD. Our 2019 Anthony Bordain project included eleven crew members for three days and an overnight on the Rio Grande.
Transportation
We own our own trucks and vans, and can arrange transportation in the back country for you and your crew. We can also arrange for additional transportation options as well. There is an airport in Lajitas (T89), or you can fly into El Paso or Midland.
Traversing the parks requires a lot of time to get familiar with them. Big Bend National Park is 1250 square miles, and Big Bend Ranch State Park is 500 square miles. Transportation is a key element of success where fuel and water are very limited.
Lodging
We have some of our own lodging in Redford and Ruidosa, and we know everyone else’s lodging. Camping or RV is an option in Redford, Lajitas, and several other places.
Equipment
As outdoor outfitters, we can provide tents, sleeping bags, dry bags, mountain bikes, water craft, and more for your crew.
Light Construction
As a former contractor, Charlie can provide crews to help with light construction and make-ready.
Permitting & Permissions
Based on where we are going, and what we are doing, permits and permission may be required. We are familiar with the requirements and process.
People
This region has a lot of talent. It’s remote, but draws an eclectic mix from all over the world. We can bring on models, camera operators, drivers, stand-ins, muscians, drone operators, horse outfitters, livestock, and much more. We can also arrange introductions. Many a dive bar or honkytonk scene has been filmed in this region.
Technical Experts
If your project has an historic or prehistoric element, we can bring on a local archaeologist with lots of expertise in the region, and several published papers and some award winning books. If your project involves wildlife photography, or landscape photograpy, we can bring on a local photographer with lots of skill to guide your photographers, or at least put them in the right place and time. Lots of expertise is hidden in our remote corner of Texas.

Shrimp and vegetables cooked on a disco over coals are amazing.
